PLANET
Hemp is one of the most eco-friendly plants when it comes to carbon absorption.
Its rapid growth—maturing in just 3 to 4 months—allows it to pull large amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. Unlike trees, which take years to grow, hemp can be harvested multiple times a year, making it a faster, more efficient carbon sequester.
Hemp produces a high amount of biomass, storing the absorbed carbon within its fibers. When turned into products like clothing, this stored carbon remains locked in, reducing greenhouse gases.
Hemp’s continuous regrowth after harvest further enhances its role in combating climate change, making it a superior, sustainable alternative to traditional materials.
PEOPLE
Production
All Louët Feisser® products are manufactured with respect to people, environment, and natural surroundings.
Our production takes place in the Shandong province, China. As one of China’s coastal provinces in the East, it is a region that has enjoyed enormous economic growth and seen its standard of living improve dramatically over the years. Wages are among the highest in the country and many domestically flock to the region for work.
The hemp fibers and fabrics used for our products are sourced from the surrounding regions Shanxi and Heilongjiang, which are major hubs for hemp production in China.
Reasoning
China accounts for 70% of global hemp production. This dominance comes from China's long history of cultivating hemp, favourable climate, and investment in research and development related to hemp farming. The country is a leading supplier of hemp fibers used in textiles, clothing, and other industries.
Louët Feisser® requires the highest quality standards for its products. The specificity of our requirements can only be met in Shandong, where the infrastructure surrounding hemp production is many years ahead of that in Europe.
